Newsletter! Get your newsletter here!! If you’d like to see the archive, go here. Some overall updates:
- Piczel streaming has been going well, so I’ll be sticking with them over Picarto for now. Kiiiiind of tempted by Owncast, though…
- Was in Japan for a good portion of February- I need to do a photodump on here like I did last time. Suffice to say: I wanna go back so bad, jesus christ.
- So many comics. Drowning in comics. Is it good? Is it bad? No idea! But comics rule.
COMIC & ART UPDATES
WEDLOCKED

Chapter one on Slipshine has just concluded and things are getting steamy over on the Patreon! There’ll be a gap of a few weeks between chapters this time as I get caught up on a bunch of things, but trust me when I say chapter two is shaping up to be some of the nastiest comics yet. We salute Iris Jay’s writing prowess, in this house.
ULTRAVIOLENTS

Ultraviolents is launching into the meat of chapter four! Sergio and Arnie dinner fallout and some new characters are introduced. New entries in the collective guy museum of our minds!
Reminder: there is a TopWebComics voting page! TWC is a very old school way of getting more eyeballs on a webcomic (voting pushes a comic up in the rankings), but it’s still somewhat reliable. Vote today to push UV up in the ranks!
I also made a little mixtape for Ultraviolents! Listen to it here. It’s all self hosted using a system called Faircamp.

OTHER COMIC NEWS

I have a comic in the Filthy Figments anthology TRANSFIXED! Here’s the blurb for my comic Our Bodies, in Babylon:
Tasked with ending his homunculus twin after decades of hiding, a sword-servant of the militarized state of Duvet ventures into a deadly underground maze to begin his hunt.
Inks are almost complete! If you missed the initial crowdfund (I know, sorry! Things kept getting in the way of getting this newsletter out! Augh!) it’s not too late- you can still get a copy today and include a digital pack of all my FF PDF releases so far. Kickstarter does neat things, sometimes. Sometimes.
EVENTS & APPEARANCES
YCH MARKET

PORTLAND!! I will be in your neck of the woods this Saturday for the YCH Market from 12pm to 7pm! This is a daytime adults-only kink market in conjunction with the YCH Party, a similarly kinky weekend party. Come by for the usual spread of print comics and fun miscellany. I still have masks! No one sells masks anymore. 🙁
You’ll also be able to pick up a brand-new promo bookmark I made for Ultraviolents- it’s long! It’s thick! Are bookmarks book boners? All this and more answered at my table.

Shoutout to Clubcard Printing for these. They’re a Cartoonist Cooperative partner too!
SEATTLE EROTIC ART FESTIVAL

If you missed the news: I am the GUEST CURATOR this year at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival! You won’t want to miss this one: I worked with the lovely volunteers on a brand new section entitled COMIXXX: BETWEEN THE GUTTERS. I’ve used my email powers for evil and rounded up a full 20 cartoonists who are some of the best and brightest in our field and asked them to submit something that they feel shows the power of eroticism in comics- what can comics do in erotica that no other medium can? Featuring the turgid and tumescent works of…
- Iris Jay
- Samantha Zoe Strong
- Jon Cairns
- Lin V/Buttovens
- EK Weaver
- Fanfi
- Blue Delliquanti
- Otava Heikkilä
- Val K Wise
- Meredith McClaren
- JT Cole
- SJ Miller
- Ram Lightly
- Nomifuki
- …and me!
It’s going to be an INCREDIBLE exhibition, so please turn up!! They have Late Night tickets and Sunday Gallery Hours tickets for under half the price of the regular ticket, so it’s still a relatively affordable way to support the local arts. Just under half of these artists are trans and all are queer creators- despite being from around the world, we still need support more than ever. Come on down, get your peepers on some porn, pick up some zines in the show’s store if you can. You could even buy some art if you’re feeling WILD and HORNY and also GENEROUS. :O
NIB & INK FESTIVAL

This May I will be on not ONE, not TWO, but THREE panels as a part of the inaugural Nib & Ink Festival! NIF is a digital-first comics celebration event that features panels, talks, portfolio reviews, a full online market, and MORE! All run by members of the Cartoonist Cooperative (like me!!). It takes place from May 1st to 31st- make sure to hop in for opening ceremonies and the Minicomic Awards ceremony on that first day! The schedule is up on the website (which I also made) (lol). Events will be streamed on Zoom and on Youtube with the links going up an hour ahead of time. Portfolio review link will go out May 1st!
TORONTO COMIC ARTS FESTIVAL

Speaking of the Co-op- I will be at the Cartoonist Cooperative’s table for TCAF this year hawking books and yelling (in an inside-appropriate voice) about worker’s rights. What DOES the publisher actually do for you, huh!? Get yourself some learnin’ in from June 7th to 8th this year, borders willing. Booth number incoming!
A…ANTHROCON??

I’ll be going back to Pennsylvania for Anthrocon this July 3rd to 6th! I haven’t been to AC since I moved West in 2013, so it should be a fun time. (How did I get into AC but I’ve only ever been accepted to Further Confusion the 10-some years I’ve been going? The mind boggles.) More info soon!
CITRUSCON
I’ll be on a panel this year and haven’t heard back about my AA submission- more info on that too soon! Hopefully!
OTHER SECRET APPEARANCE SOON
Okay I was going to make a graphic for something REALLY special at the end of this year but I have to eat lunch and run to a meeting, so just keep an eye on the blog for now. It’ll be cool, I promise.
RECS & LINKS
- A Co-op member who’s work I really enjoy is starting a very pulpy post-apoc webcomic on May 5th! Go bookmark The Titan and read the rest of Lannan’s work at https://lofrequency.net/. I’ve seen the early pages and it’s going to be a hell of a webcomic!
- One of the things I ended up doing in Japan was going to a small live house, and subsequently got really into one of the artists I saw: Minori Nagashima serval DOG. Her 2024 album is great, but Orange Hiss Noise is a banger. Highly recommended if you like punk/industrial Girls Playing On Guitars music. It’s a valid genre!
- Also wanted to recommend J. Scott’s newest webcomic, Blue Hollow! Appalachian delinquents and spooky folklore is definitely my jam- maybe it’s yours too!
- Another comic? You betcha- Superpose’s Seosamh has been posting Birth of the Sun, which is quickly becoming a highlight of my week. A sci-fi story about life shaped by power, a missing father, a mysterious accident, transness, blood, and choice. Also: gotta love a fellow b&w webcomic sicko.
You read all the way to the end! Take a photo of one of my julidochromis transcriptus resting on a pothos leaf for your troubles.

That’s it for now! Thanks for sticking around.
Stay safe,
-Nero
